“The Gracious” Henry was a gentle pig. He often played in the mud with his friends and rooted for vegetables afterward. One day, Henry found a pig lying beside the stump where he normally sat. This pig was feeble and needed attention. So Henry sat beside him and rubbed the pig’s belly. Later that day, the very same thing happened to Henry. He felt ill, and someone nearby rubbed his belly. Then another pig became ill, too. This last one said to Henry, “I think we are the three pigs who were to be slaughtered, but somehow we all became too ill for farmer John to kill.” King of kings is always on guard, watching those whose troubles are grave. King David petitioned God in the face of trouble, and his faith in God tendered love from his Father in adverse times. In a prayer, David asked God to “Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes” (Psalms 17:7, NIV). God indeed protected King David and the same is true when the faithful hold themselves up to him and believe he will watch over them. God will intervene and protect you too, when you learn to accept the words spoken by his Son. He will never allow you to falter in a way that makes you susceptible to the unkind world run by the king of the demons.
